Die Westk\u00fcste gilt als die &#8218;wilde&#8216; Seite, mit viel Regen und Wind, dementsprechend reich ist die Vegetation dort auch.<\/p>\n<p><a geteert) und nachdem dies geschafft war machten wir zuerst einen kurzen Stop in der N\u00e4he des Knights Point\u00a0Aussichtspunkt, wo wir auf dem &#8218;Kahikatea Swamp Forest Walk&#8216; zum ersten zum eigentlichen Ziel des Tages: dem Fox Gletscher. An der Westk\u00fcste gibt es zwei Gletscher, die beide einzigartig sind, weil sie praktisch direkt in den sie umgebenden Regenwald vordringen. Bei der Wahl zwischen Franz Josef und Fox Gletscher war die Wahl dann aber nat\u00fcrlich anhand des Namens einfach ;-D. Vom Parkplatz musste man etwa 1.5 km bis zur Aussichtsplattform laufen, eindrucksvollerweise durch ein Tal, das vor nicht allzu langer Zeit noch durch den Gletscher bedeckt war.
